Novelette, Short Tales Published in Yiddish

Moisheh Tolchin’s “Ayola, a Novelette, and Other Stories” (M. Ceshinksky, Chicago) with vignettes and illustrations by Todros Geller and Natol Suzanne, although written in Yiddish, is a purely American collection which is equivalent to saying that the author is perfectly at home in his American milieu. The book contains, in addition to “Ayola,” a novelette, ten short stories dealing with people in the humbler walks of life. Mr. Tolchin possesses a simple, direct style, somewhat tinged with pessimism, yet the impression made on the reader is of having been told tales of real life, in a real setting, and in a moving, though never sentimental, manner.

“All the news concerning Jews” is faith-fully and promptly reported in the Jewish Daily Bulletin — the only Jewish daily newspaper printed in English.
