Henry Ford’s letter of 1927 to Theodor Fritsch and Hammer Verlag, of Leipzig, reproduced elsewhere in this issue of the Jewish Daily Bulletin, was disregarded. Not only did the translator and publishers “The International Jew” fail to make public in Germany Mr. Ford’s retraction and his repudiation of the anti-Jewish material in that book published under his name in Germany, but in violation of his wishes, they kept republishing and distributing the vicious book, making conspiouous use of Mr. Ford’s name in connection with Hitler’s anti-Jewish policies.

It is hoped that this time Mr. Ford will find an effective way or stopping use of his name by the unscrupulous publishers who are profiting by his name and are seeking to give the impression to the German people that Mr. Ford is now in sympathy with their outrageous anti-Jewish campaign.

GERMANY ON PARADE

Advertisements of the German Tourist Information Office are appearing in American newspapers, describing in luring terms the attractions which “New Germany” holds for American tourists. It is announced that registered marks for travel purposes are about twenty five per cent below the regular exchange rate. Other concessions are emphasized.

Then the advertisement appeals to the prospective tourists thus:

“New Germany is on parade! A stirring spectacle of progress and work. History being shaped before your eyes, in a modern, progressive country that sparkles with the spirit of Youth, and thrills to the exciting events of Today.”

Indeed Germany is on parade today. It is on a goose-stepping parade, to the tune of martial music.

And what a stirring spectacle of progress it offers! The foremost intellectuals banished or muzzled: religious, racial and political persecution assuming the most savage forms of cruelty, bigotry, hate and stupidity enthroned.

The German Tourist Information Office is undoubtedly referring to the concentration camps, to the inhuman atrocities that are being committed, to the false and inflammatory propaganda that is carried on in that “modern, progressive country” that “thrills to the exciting events.”

Now Germany is on parade! It is a parade of moral bankruptcy, of intellectual collapse, ### “A modern progressive country that sparkles with the spirit of Youth, and thrills to the exciting events of Today.” of spiritual degradation, of brazen arrogance, and of the complete repudiation of all that human beings have attained in the process of civilization.

PENALTY FOR JEWISH SHOPS

The depths to which Nazi stupidity is sinking in its efforts to crush the Jews of Germany finds new illustration in the recent attacks made by the Nazis on Zeiss, the famous German optical firm of Jena. This is an “Aryan” firm, but because it did not boycott the Jews for the reason that it has Jewish customers, it is denounced in the Nazi press as being pro-Semitic. The reason given for these attacks is that it has been established that Zeiss had recently bought a dozen pencils from a Jewish shop.
