The Nowominsker Zaddik, Alter Isroel Simon Perlow, famouus Chassidic leader, died yesterday at the age of fifty-eight.
The deceased was descended from several distinguished rabbinic families, notably identified with the Chasidism. The Nowominsker Zaddik was the thirty-first in the line descent from the Baal Schem Tov, first of the Chassidic dynasty, around whom a host of legends are woven. He was also a grandson of Rebbe Lewi Izchok of Berditchow and Rebbe Aaron Karliner, both noted in the annals of Chassidism. He was the author of ten works.
Four sons and four daughters survive. Two of the sons, Rebbe Nahumche and Rebbe Aaron are in the United States, and a son-in-law, Rebbe David Rabinowitch, is in London.
