The new addition to the Jewish Community Center, which houses a new library and more classroom space for the Jewish Educational Institute was formally opened here. The building was erected by the Oakland Jewish Federation of which Bernard Silverstein is president. The library, which will contain Judaica and Hebraica for the local Jewish community, already has one of the most active Yiddish sections on the Pacific Coast.
Dr. Michael Zarchin, graduate of Dropsie College, is director of the Jewish Educational Institute, which is planning an extensive program of Jewish education for children and adults.
