The eighth anniversary of the death of Professor Solomon Schechter was observed yesterday at the Jewish The clogical Seminary, of which he was president from 1902 until his death on November 19, 1915. Professor Moses Hyamson and Rabbi Max Drob delivered memorial addresses at a special service held by the faculty and students in the chapel of the Seminary.
During the course of his address on the life of Dr. Schechter, who was called from Cambridge University, where he had been Professor of Rabbinics, Rabbi Drob said that Dr. Schechter’s personality and scholarship had strengthened traditional Judaism in America, and his erudition had wielded a potent influence conceded by the leaders of that branch of the faith in this country.
