Mayor William O’Dwyer, acting in behalf of the people of New York City, tomorrow will present a gold miniature replica of the Statue of Liberty to members of the United Jewish Appeal overseas delegation for transmission to the “heroic people of the independent Jewish state in Palestine,” at a special ceremony in City Hall.
Mayer 0’Dwyer’s gift will be accepted by former Gov. Herbert Lehman in behalf of the 40 American Jewish leaders from all sections of the United States who are scheduled to arrive here tonight. The delegation will leave for Europe and Palestine on Tuesday aboard a TWA Constellation, named the United Jewish Appeal ‘Star of Hope,’ to study the relief and reconstruction needs of the remaining Jews of Europe and to survey the requirements of the new Jewish state in Palestine.
