As a means of acquainting veterans and the public generally of the part played in United States history by American-Jewish patriots, Newark, N. J., Post of the Jewish War Veterans has outlined an essay contest which will feature the life and work of one of these patriots, yet to be selected.
An official communication was issued by the government today denying the charges directed by the press against the Jews in connection with the accidental death of a policeman at the hands of an inebriated Jew who was a close friend of the policeman.
The communique stresses the accidental character of the policeman’s death.
The agitation, inaugurated by the press, was taken up by the Council of Ministers, as well. The latter declared itself satisfied with the communique of the government.
The government organ “Centra Bals” joined in the anti-Jewish agitation. The editor of the paper explains today that the accusations appeared during his absence. At the same time he withdraws the allegations against the Jews, previously published in his paper.

The installation exercises, attended by representatives of various civic and patriotic groups, were conducted by J. George Fredman, of Jersey City, national commander.
