Officials in the Likud Party were continuing efforts to head off a potential explosion at this week’s party convention over initiatives to change the party’s constitution. Most contentious was a proposal to cancel party primaries if early elections are called. Senior Likud ministers have termed the move “undemocratic” and urged the prime minister to ensure that the issue is kept off the convention agenda.
