The first large-scale step to “Aryanize” the heavy metals industry was disclosed today by an announcement that Wolf Netter and Jacob 1, steel, tin and zinc concern established in 1833, has been taken over by the Mannes Mann Iron Works. The concern, capitalized at 5,000,000 marks, has a turnover of 40,000,000 marks annually.

A spokesman for the Mannes Mann company declared that arrangements had been made to perpetuate the valuable foreign markets built up by the Netter-Jacobi firm.

The boycott against Jewish advertisers has been joined by the Deutsche Verlag formerly the Jewish-owned publishing house of Ullstein, which is closing the columns of all its publications to Jewish advertising starting April 1. The decision closely follows action of Scherl, newspaper and magazine publishers who have been excluding Jewish ads since the first of the year. All important Berlin newspapers, except two dailies, are now closed to Jews. The large provincial publishing house of Knorr, Hirth, of Munich, is also barring Jewish ads.
