The Ministry of Press and Propaganda today refused the registration of the Yiddishe Volkszeitung, oldest Jewish newspaper in Brazil, which was about to celebrate the fourteenth year of its existence. The Volkszeitung recently announced that beginning with August 31st, it would appear in the Portuguese language as stipulated by the latest Brazilian press law ordering all foreign-language publications to appear in Portuguese only.
