The 1966 campaign of the Jewish Federation of Omaha got off to an excellent start here last night, when the annual drive for local, national and overseas Jewish agencies was launched, with the goal set at $508,000. The principal speaker was Eleazar Lipsky, president of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Micky Kurpinsky, associate chairman of the campaign’s initial gifts division, announced that this year’s drive must cover not only the needs for 1966 but must also make up for a $40,000 deficit left over after last year’s campaign. He said that the future of the Dr. Sher Home, the Esther K. Newman Camp, and “the many activities and services housed in the Jewish Community Center depend on our response to this campaign.” Robert M. Feinberg is general chairman of this year’s campaign.
