Jewish organizations, barred from the German Winter relief drive, launched their own campaign yesterday with a “one-dish Sunday,” coinciding with the “one-dish day” opening the Nazi relief drive.
Jews were urged to eat only one course at one of their meals and contribute the money save to the Jewish relief drive. A report issued in connection with the campaign said one of every five Jews in Germany was dependent on relief.
Chief Rabbi Leo Baeck and Dr. Heinrich Stahl, head of the Berlin Jewish Community, declared at a meeting here at the local drive that Jewish unemployment had reached colossal proportions and relief requirements were at a new peak.
