One hundred and ninety-two members of the House of Representatives declared that abandonment by Great Britain of its Mandate over Palestine “would not only erase the one ray of hope remaining for the Jewish refugees of Europe but would jeopardize the lives and threaten the safety of nearly half a million Jews now dwelling in the land of their fathers,” in a statement released by the American Zionist Bureau. Previously 28 Senators signed a similar statement.
