An intensive one-month campaign to sell $3,000,000 in State of Israel Development Bonds in this city was opened yesterday at 12 simultaneous breakfast meetings attended by more than 1, 000 volunteer workers who later launched the drive. The campaign will be culminated on December 23 with a huge Chanukah Festival at Madison Square Garden, admission to which will be by purchase of a bond.
The 12 meetings were addressed by Dr. Joseph Burg, Israel Minister of Posts and Telegraph, who is visiting here, and Dr. Israel Goldstein, chairman of the Chanukah festival committee, over a simultaneous telephone hook-up. The meetings, in a resolution sent Israel Premier Moshe Sharett, called for “maximum mobilization” in support of bond sales in this city.
