One of Brazil’s best-known television figures was released from captivity last week after being held hostage for seven hours. The kidnappping of Silvio Santos, who owns Brazil’s second largest TV station and also is the host of Brazil’s “Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” came after his daughter was kidnapped earlier in August. Born as Senor Abravanel, Santos contributes money to the local Jewish community but is not actively involved in its activities.
