One of Russia’s two chief Muslim leaders condemned last week’s terrorist attack in the United States, but also said America had it coming because of its “excessive pride” and desire to “be ruler of the world, like the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs.” The comments by Talgat Tajuddin, one of Russia’s two chief muftis, were aired by Russian TV channels soon after the attacks.
