One of the last acts by the Knesset before it recessed last week was to adopt a tough anti-litter law. The measure, proposed by Shalom Levin of Labor and Yosef Tamir of Likud provides fines of up to IL. 5000 for anyone depositing rubbish in a public place. Most Israelis agree that anti-litter education is sadly lagging in the country.
