The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, speaking with the Palestine Telegraphic Agency today, said that the Mosque of Omar is by no means yet assured of the necessary funds for its repair. The delegations which have just returned from India and Iraq, where they have been touring for the purpose of raising funds for the repair of the Mosque, have brought back large sums but despite this, there is available now only about a third of the total sum necessary, about 150,000 pounds. The campaign will, therefore, be continued in all the Moslem countries. In the course of the conversation, the Grand Mufti said that the government of Iraq is opposing Zionism on the ground that it is splitting the Arab national movement.
