An appeal by a Dresden, Ontario, restaurateur against the Ontario anti-discrimination law has been dismissed, the National Joint Public Relations Committee of the Canadian Jewish Congress and B’nai B’rith reported here today. The case has been dragging on for several years and in several courts. This appears to be the final clearcut decision upholding the provincial law providing for equality of public accommodation.

The Joint Public Relations Committee also reported that a complaint by its central region to the FEP branch of Ontario caused the removal of a help wanted advertisement which asked applicants to specify their religion. Both the Toronto newspaper which published the advertisement and the employer involved apologized for the incident and the employer has assured the Ontario FEP Branch that it is now familiar with the requirements of the FEP law.
