Members of the local chapter of the American League Against War and Fascism, found themselves confronted by what appeared to be mass picketing on the part of Nazis when they arrived at the Republican Hotel, last night for a banquet and meeting.
On the stairs stood booted young men with swastika armbands.
No clash occurred, however. The anti-Fascists discovered the Nazis were merely members of the Friends of New Germany arriving for their own weekly session. There was considerable dismay, nevertheless at the thought of the two groups meeting under the same roof.
