Optimism as to the possibility of Jewish immigration to Canada was expressed here today by S. W. Jacobs and A. A. Heaps, the two Jewish members of the Federal Parliament. They pointed out that while the Canadian government is copying the immigration policy of Washington it is doing its utmost not to lessen the number of Jews arriving in Canada annually.
Mr. Heap and Mr. Jacobs expressed hope that the situation would change and the Canadian government would adopt a more liberal immigration policy. Neither of them believe in the success of the contemplated plan to transfer immigration control to the provinces.
The Jewish members of Parliament were thanked for their efforts on behalf of immigration at the annual meeting of the Canadian Jewish Immigrant Aid Society.
