Rabbi James G. Heller will again serve as program annotator of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, which is about to open its fortieth season here.
Dr. Heller, who is held in high esteem as a musical authority, also is likely to be featured by the Cincinnati Orchestra in the role of composer this season. Conductor Eugene Goossens is reported considering a suite by Dr. Heller for performance.
Among the soloists engaged the coming season are Jascha Heifetz, violinist; Bronislaw Huberman, violinist, and Henrietta Schumann, pianist.
Vladimir Bakaleinikoff returns as assistant conductor and head of the viola section. Among the other Jewish members of the orchestra given contracts for this season are Stefan A. Sopkin and Samuel Rabinowitz, first violins; Hyman Schuler, Rubin Phillips, Felix Leipniker, Samuel Schanes and Harry Berg, second violins; Mikhael Stolarevsky, viola; Arthur Zack and Fritz Bruch, ‘cellos; Leo Reines, bassoon and contra-bassoon; and James Jerome Rosenberg, percussion.
