An additional bequest of $1,200,000 to the Pacific Hebrew Orphan Asylum, from the will of the late Rube R. Rogel, millionaire New York jeweler, will be put into the endowment fund of that institution, according to the announcement today of Dr. Samuel Langer, head of the asylum.
The bequest from the Fogel estate had already given $1,745,256 to the orphanage. The latest bequest, which stipulated the establishment of an institution for orphans and aged who had come to this country from Great Britain, was termed ambiguous by the trustee, who asked for an interpretation. Surrogate Judge John P. O’ Brien in New York, ruled that the money belonged to the San Francisco institution by virtue of its standing as an residuary legatee.
Dr. Langer declared that there would be no changes, but that the additional money would relieve the Community Chest by cutting down the amount al-loted to the orphanage.
Fogel in his youth lived at the asylum for five years.
