The establishment of a special “Jubilee Foundation” for the completion of the most important tasks facing the World ORT Union in the field of vocational training was decided upon at the 70th annual session of the ORT Central Board at Montreux, it was announced here today.
The Board also decided to establish an annual ORT Day dedicated to ORT students and the ORT ideal of labor. The parley approved a Jewish Agency plan for using existing ORT institutions for agricultural and handicraft training centers for prospective immigrants to Israel. The delegates heard a report that there were more than 1,500 persons enrolled in ORT schools in Israel where they first began operating last year.
