Dr. William Haber, president of the American ORT Federation and chairman of the Federal Advisory Council on Employment Security, left for Paris today to head an ORT commission to survey economic conditions in Europe, North Africa and Israel which will report its findings to an international conference of the World ORT Union which will open in Paris on July 5.
“The establishment of the Survey commission,” Dr. Haber said to a gathering of ORT leaders prior to his departure, “is in consonance with and insures the continued flexibility of ORT operations. The ORT is like a huge institution on wheels, We establish our schools wherever they are needed and the focal points of our operations shift from country to country and from area to area as changing Jewish populations and economic vicissitudes require.”
