A budget of $43,000, mainly for carrying on the work in Russia, was adopted at the three days session of the Ort Council, which was presided over by former Judge Jacob Panken of New York.
The budget is to be raised in the United States and in several European countries.
Reports submitted to the Council by Dr. Leo Bramson. Syngalowski, Zegelnizki and Silberiarb, show that during the past two and a half years, the Ort expended on its work the amount of $700,000 in addition to the $325,000 made available by the Ort for the supply of tools and raw materials to Jewish artisans in Soviet Russia. During the period, the Ort supported thirty-five credit cooperatives. 1,000 Jewish peasant families in Poland 2,600 families in Russia. 500 in Bessarabia. Twenty-eight new branches of the Ort were established.
The next session of the Council will take place in August, 1929.
