A 30-day countrywide appeal for funds for ORT was launched here today, the first of its kind in Switzerland. Marcel Edmond Naegellen, former French Minister for Education, delivered the keynote address here last night at a meeting inaugurating the drive.
Mr. Naegellen expressed to ORT his personal gratitude for “having achieved what the State was not in a position to do” in the fields of vocational training and education. “I speak, “he said, “as a Frenchman who has seen ORT at work in French territories.” Alfred Borel, parliamentary president of Geneva, praised ORT for having made an “impressive contribution” to Switzerland. Other speakers at the meeting were Dr. A. Syngalowski, president of the World ORT Union; and Dr. M. Kahany, a member of Israel’s delegation to the United Nations.
