Plans are being made by the World ORT Union to develop vocational training courses for Falashas, Jews living in tribal conditions in Ethiopia, according to an announcement here today by ORT headquarters.
The announcement was made after the return from a survey trip to Ethiopia by two ORT representatives. Robert M. Gilbert, of London, and Herman N. Guggenheim. They visited the Falashas living in the Gondar region of Ethiopia. The Falashas trace their origin back to the Queen of Sheba. While in Ethiopia, Mr. Guggenheim and Mr. Gilbert were received by the Emperor of Ethiopia, King Haile Selassie.
