The board of directors of the American ORT Federation today announced that it had ratified the ORT agreement with the Joint Distribution Committee by which the latter agreed to support vocational training programs in Europe, North Africa and Iran up to $1,000,000 during 1952.
In a special resolution, the directors noted that the warm cooperation between the O.R.T. and the J.D.C. for the past five years has resulted in “maximum effectiveness and the absence of duplicating fund-raising activities” with concomitant benefits to American Jewry and those overseas who are the beneficiaries of its generosity. However, the meeting took note of the fact that no American philanthropic dollars have been assigned to the O.R.T.’s school network in Israel in the J.D.C. pact.
