All during the occupation of Paris, the ORT continued to conduct trade schools, although on a limited scale, it is revealed in “Unser Stimme,” Yiddish newspaper published in the French capital, a copy of which was received here today.
In the almost three-year period from the beginning of 1942 to this August, when Paris was liberated, 714 new students entered the schools, while 908 students were forced to leave for various reasons connected with the Nazis.
The Paris paper points out that Jews in France will now, more than ever before, need professional training schools for the young and short-term courses for adults. It lauds the Ort for helping “men and women to become self-sustaining in gainful occupations.”
