Orthodox groups have filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court asking that students studying religion be allowed to receive state-funded scholarships. The brief, principally authored by the National Jewish Coalition on Law and Political Affairs, which includes the Orthodox Union and Agudath Israel of America, argues that the study of religious texts is an essential component of the free exercise of religion.
