Perry Davis, 24, has been named an aide to Mayor John. V. Lindsay for Laison with the Jewish community of New York, succeeding Dr. Marvin Schick, who resigned on Feb. 9 after serving in that function for three years. Dr. Schiek’s appointment as Lindsay’s Assistant for intergroup Relations in Feb. 1970, centralized for the first time in one municipal office the various city programs and contacts with New York City’s Jews Davis like Dr. Schick an Orthodox Jew, began his new duties yesterday.
Dr. Schick will continue with the department on a consultant basis, handling such special assignments as the city’s official participation in the celebration of Israel’s 25th anniversary and continuing his work with the City University of New York, which was one of his assignments as administrative assistant, an appointment he received in Dec. 1971.
Davis will also serve as the Mayor’s liaison to the city’s Office for the Aging and for veterans affairs. He attended the Yeshiva of Central Queens and received a B.A. in political science from Yeshiva College, later attending Columbia University where he received an M.A. He is now working for his doctorate. Davis is a member of the National Jewish Commission on Law and Public Affairs (COLPA), Yavneh, the Orthodox campus organization, and the Student Struggle for Soviet Jewry. He is currently teaching a course on Jews in politics at Columbia University.
