“He who forgets the situation of Russian Jewry is like one who forgets Jerusalem.” Thus “The Yiddische Presse”, the official organ (central) of the Agadath Israel, describes the emergency of the Jewish situation in Russia. The article, which is of an alarming nature, is based upon conclusions which Pelaleolokue, the former French Ambassador to Petrograd, made during a lecture which he recently delivered in Paris on the situation of the Jews in Russia, and on private information from Soviet Russia which has reached the Executive Committee of the Agudath Israel.
“It is the duty,” says the paper, “of all Jewish parties to unite at this moment to rescue the Russian Jews from the total economic and moral destruction which threatens them in the near future. All means available have to be used for this end unless we want to incur the eternal curse of Jewish history.”
