A general strike of storekeepers, and a strong protest demonstration was arranged here yesterday by a group of orthodox Jews on account of the fact that building operations had been started on the much disputed Jewish Academic Home, next to the synagogue in the suburb of Pragz.
While the orthodox storekeepers closed their stores a large group of men, women and children marched toward the place where the building was being erected, stormed the court yard of the synagogue and destroyed some of the building material. The police had to be called to restore order. The orthodox participants formed themselves into a meeting which passed a resolution demanding the suspension of the building activity.
