Moses L. Feuerstein, president of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, told a regional convention of his organization here that the Union’s opposition to the regularization of the Presidents’ Club was based on the belief that this would be detrimental to the interests of the State of Israel and the American Jewish community.
He declared that this opposition “does not mean that the Union is or ever was opposed to the Jewish Agency, or to Zionism, or to the Zionist organizations and the fulfillment of their historic role in the Jewish community. The Union is opposed to the ‘regularization’ of the Presidents’ Club because the composition of its membership would impair its effectiveness on behalf of Israel if it became an organization of organizations.”
