A move against Ziopism in Hungary was made by a group of Orthodox Rabbis headed by Rabbi Koppel Reich, representative of the Jewish religion in the Hungarian Senate.

At a session of the Orthodox Rabbis’ Council a resolution was adopted prohibiting rabbis to participate in the activities of Zionist Organization. The Council also decided to enjoin lay members of the congregations against joining the Zionist organization. Should they fail to heed this warning, they will be thrown into Cherem, (excommunicated.)
