Creation of an emergency committee to raise funds to find new havens for the Polish yeshivoth was announced today by the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of United States and Canada, which said the action was decided upon at a special conference.
The Agudath Harabonim made public today a cable received from Rabbi Grodzenski in Wilno which said that the distress of the yeshiva students in Lithuania was dire and required urgent relief.
The Agudath Chassidei Chabad received a cable from Wilno which said: “Students Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch of Otwock fugitives in Wilno, hungry, naked. Urgent assistance necessary.”
