Rabbi Samuel Berliant, president of the Rabbinical Council of America, today issued a call to all Council members as well as to graduates of various Orthodox rabbinical seminaries, urging young rabbis to enlist as chaplains in the U.S. Armed Forces. “In these days of stress, when our country calls upon our young men to rise to the defense of our cherishes democracy, the work of the chaplain assumes increased importance,” the statement said.
