Al-Hayat said Al-Qaida bought at least one small nuclear device from Ukrainian scientists who visited Afghanistan in 1998 and was storing them for a last stand in the U.S.-led war on terrorism. Sources in Jerusalem confirmed Monday that Israel believes that at least three Soviet-made “suitcase bombs” — portable, tactical nukes designed to be set off behind enemy lines — were sold to Islamic agents in the 1990s.
