Jewish medical and social welfare activities, particularly for children, should be coordinated by the OSE, the Jewish health society; it was urged here at the first international post-war conference of the organization.
Creation of a pedagogical council to prepare plans for a Jewish educational program was also decided upon, in view of the OSE’s responsibility for educating children entrusted to the organization’s care. Most of the children are in OSE-directed orphanages.
Plans were also laid for the erection of numerous medical and social institutions, and the Joint Distribution Committee was praised for its important financial assistance in the past. Confidence was also expressed that the JDC would increase its financial aid in view of the enlarged field of OSE activity. The head of the European medical department of the JDC stressed the importance of the work done by OSE and promised closer cooperation from his group.
