Outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Sunday that his administration had engaged in a series of indirect negotiations with Syria. His comments came after the Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported that Israel and Syria were close to signing a peace agreement that would have included a significant Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights.
