The Office of War Information in the Middle East, acting on directives from Washington, aggressively supports Arab nationalism and completely ignores the Jews of Palestine and the question of Zionism, according to an OWI official here.
He says that Zionism is never mentioned in the OWI reports because it would antagonize Arab politicians, and the OWI political line in this case seems to be to appease Arab nationalists.
It is significant that while the OWI maintains staffs and offices in Cairo, Istanbul, Bagdad, Damascus and Beirut, with field men in the smaller cities, it has no representative in Palestine.
