The Association of Master Painters and Decorators, in an organization meeting yesterday, called the ultimatum given them Monday evening by the striking painters a “weakness upon the part of the union.”
The union’s resolution, which was passed at a mass meeting of the Brotherhood of Painters, Paperhangers and Decorators Monday night at Mecca Temple, declares that if the union’s demands are not met by the Masters Association within forty-eight hours (tomorrow morning) the employers organization will no longer be recognized, and the striking painters will deal directly with individual employers.
At the meeting of the Association of Master Painters and Decorators, much consideration was given to Ben Golden’s suggestion of yesterday that the grievances of both factions be submitted once more to arbitration. The matter was held under advisement. At the headquarters of the Brotherhood, officials said that they had not heard from Mr. Golden, of the Regional Labor Board.
