Heading the list of expenditures in the budget of the Jewish Agency was the ### of $11,315,317 spent for immigration and relief for refugees. Included in this ### the costs of: relief and training abroad; transportation; care of refugees upon ###ir arrival in Palestine, which involves feeding, clothing and providing initial ?ommodation, construction of housing facilities for newcomers to alleviate the ###te housing shortage and participation by the Jewish Agency in the youth immigration ###gram.For agricultural development, the Jewish Agency spent $5,646,782 during the seven-month period, with which it helped to establish 16 new settlements and to ex##d those already in existence. The remainder was spent on land acquisition, urban development, resettlement of ex-servicemen, care of war invalids and educational products.
