A protest meeting against the government policy of restricting Jewish immigration which had been arranged by the Jewish Community Council at Tel Aviv, was suddenly dispersed by the authorities.
The meeting was supposed to be addressed by Rabbi Uziel, Rabbi Mayer Berlin and Dr. Ben-Zion Mossinson, representating Jewish factions in Palestine. At the last minute police entered Beth-Am and informed a crowd of 2,000 persons that the meeting was prohibited. The Crowd thereupon left the hall in an orderly manner, but shouting “Down with the government!” and singing Hatikvah.
