A Rosh Hashanah message to the Jews of the world was issued by Chief Rabbi A. J. Kook through the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. The message read:
“May all the Children of Israel work together wholeheartedly and enthusiastically to rebuild our waste places and change the face of our country, made desolate by our enemies, old and new. May they make it a blessed land, as it was in the days of old. May the nations of the world be blessed through our works. May the blood of our martyrs, shed in the Holy Land by the workers of iniquity, come before the just Judge, who judgeth nations with justice and peoples with equity. He sitteth on the Throne of Truth and of Righteousness in the Mountains of Zion in Jerusalem, through that great people whom He hath chosen for Himself as an everlasting inheritance.
“May the hands of the builders be strengthened, the builders who are building the heritage of fathers for the benefit of the children who are coming into that heritage in love. May there be remembered for good those holy lives which have been sacrificed for the holiness of the Torah in the Holy Land, so that the bond of holiness which binds the holy people may be strengthened in generations which are to come after us.
“My dear brothers, may your names be written and sealed in the Book of Life. May we all rejoice together in the coming year. May it be a good and blessed year, which should see the end of strife in Zion and the exaltation of the soul of Israel.”
