Elaborate preparations are being made here for a joint celebration by the Jewish young people, of the Succoth holiday and the 70th birthday of Menachem Mendel Ussishkin, Zionist leader. Thousands of children of German extraction will join in the festivities.
The ceremonies will include a procession of the children in the senior classes of all schools on Monday, October 9. The Ohel Theatre Guild will sponsor the procession. In the afternoon Mr. Ussishkin will be honored by a public ovation in the open-air theatre on Mt. Scopus, the open-air amphitheatre of the Hebrew University. A Simchat Beth ha’Shoava celebration, featuring a symbolic performance, torchlight parade and community singing, is also planned.
