The frontier between Palestine and Syria and Lebanon has been closed on the Palestine side, it was officially announced today. This move was apparently designed to prevent the influx of Arab terrorists into the Holy Land. No safe-conduct pass will be issued for crossing of the northern frontier until further notice.
In addition, as of next Thursday, new restrictions will be imposed on automobile traffic outside city limits, except in cases where the drivers are Jewish or Europeans. Highway traffic to and from Syria and Transjordan will be forbidden. The reason for these steps was officially stated to be that military permits and other privileges granted up to now have been used in a manner prejudicial to military security.
Police today discovered a half-naked corpse on the seashore at Tel Aviv, stabbed and bullet-riddled and with no definite marks of identification. An investigation was launched into his identity.
