Special sessions of the Kehillahs in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa were held Tuesday afternoon at which time resolutions of protest were adopted against the action of the Jerusalem police in the Wailing Wall incident. A delegation headed by the Hebrew poet, Chaim Nachman Bialik, was sent by the community of Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to urge the Zionist Executive to intervene with the British Government and the League of Nations.
A plan was formulated for urging the Jewish communities throughout the world to hold manifestions to support the demand for the return of the Western Wall of the Temple to the Jewish people.
The Moslem Supreme Council, whose protest was said to have been the cause for the action of the Jerusalem police, in a statement to the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency declared that it had drawn the attention of the Palestine government twice to an “existing agreement.” The placing of tables, chairs and lamps, as well as the screen, were in contradiction to this agreement. The Moslem Supreme Council demanded the removal of the screen in order to prevent action by a Moslem crowed which had intended to occupy the space before the Wall on Yom Kippur morning before the arrival of the worshippers.
A Jewish resident of Jerusalem who was severely beaten by Arabs near the Wailing Wall last Saturday is now in the hospital in a grave condition. His assailants have been arrested.
