Judge A. H. Webb, President of the District Court of Nablus, has been appointed temporarily Legal Assessor to the Palestine Development Commission, it is officially announced here to-day.
The Director of Development, Mr. Lewis French, who was appointed in July, is instructed under the Passfield Dispatch addressed to the High Commissioner for Palestine at the time of his appointment to “prepare a register of such Arabs as can be shown to have been displaced from the lands which they occupied in consequence of the lands falling into Jewish hands and who have not obtained other holdings on which they can establish themselves or other equally satisfactory occupation.
“The Director, in preparing the registers”, the Lispatch said further, will have the assistance of a Legal Assessor, whose duty it will be to scrutinise claims and advise the Director as to the sufficiency of evidence in each case, before the claims are admitted”.
